The mod will be centered in the Riverlands during the War of the Five Kings. Like the Attila version, this is NOT a book modification, and will instead rely heavily on TV show influence…

You can expect a full range of armor and weapons, loyal to the look and feel of the Game of Thrones TV show. But what will the mod actually focus on, we know it’s a complete conversion mod, but what direction are the mod creators wanting to take it: Basically what this means is that they can have a portion of the assets done by the time of release, and already the assets they’ve shown off look really cool. So basically at the moment they’re working on creating assets, which quite rightly is a long and arduous task. This means work can already begin on the most time consuming tasks. However, the bulk of modding work, like 3D assets (armor, weapons, etc.) is designed and created externally. Without access to the game (to be released on February 13th) we can’t, technically. But obviously, the game hasn’t been released yet so how can you work on a mod when you don’t have access to the game: Most importantly, Warhorse Studios stands behind the modding community and has been very vocal about supporting mods.Īnd this is true, if you head over to the Kingdom Come Deliverance official forums actually, you’ll find a whole section dedicated to the modding community which is pretty active. The open-world and story-driven aspects of the game are better suited to the Game of Thrones universe, giving us much more potential for new features and gameplay modes. This means it’s easier to create quality assets and to render them with next-gen shaders. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a brand new game (to be released on February 13th) utilising the powerful CryEngine. Most importantly, it’s an older game, so the studio behind it is instead focusing on releasing new titles rather than improving modding for old ones. The developer tools were broken and outdated. For example, a campaign set in Westeros could not be created. While we were able to bring the main armies and characters from Game of Thrones into Attila: Total War, it offered very little modding support and potential for new features. First of all they discussed why they were stopping support for Total War Attila and switching over to KCD: Now not too long ago the team behind the Seven Kingdoms mod for Total War Attila announced that they were stopping development on that mod to instead create a complete conversion mod for Kingdom Come Deliverance, allowing players to experience the War of the Five Kings by putting equipment, uniforms and general aesthetics from the series into the game.īlack Mang and Carboncete are the two listed members of the development team on the mod (apologies if I butchered your names) but they did a short FAQ on what they hope the mod will be over on ModDB.

There are mods that completely convert the game into the Lord of the Rings universe and, for Total War Attila, there is a mod that converts the game into the world of Game of Thrones. I am a massive fan of the Total War game franchise, they’re not only fantastic games in their own right but they equally have an amazing, dedicated modding community.
